UNE faculty and administrators participate in 'Collaborating Across Borders'
Twelve Āé¶¹Ö±²„ faculty/administrators participated in the international interprofessional education conference, āCollaborating Across Borders,ā in Tucson, Ariz., November 19-22. Educators, clinicians, researchers, policymakers and students gathered to discuss and share best practices in interprofessional education, practice and policy, including competitive, peer-reviewed papers/posters. The UNE participants/authors gave scholarly presentations on the following topics:
- āSimulation for interprofessional education with first year studentsā, a demonstration project presented by Dawne-Marie Dunbar (Nursing) and Chris Rizzo (Athletic Training).
- āInterprofessional education: Developing the context for organizational changeā, a workshop presented by Shelley Cohen-Konrad (IPEC Director/ Social Work) and Karen Pardue (WCHP Deanās office).
- āTheater, interprofessional practice, and eating disorders: The thin lineā, a workshop presented by Cathy Plourde (WCHP Deans office), Shelley Cohen-Konrad and Dawne-Marie Dunbar.
- āComing together, teaching together: Using Appreciative Inquiry to design and implement an interprofessional curriculumā, a workshop presented by Karen Pardue, Leah Coplon (Nursing), Dawne- Marie Dunbar, Kathryn Loukas (Occupational Therapy), and Jane Walsh (Dental Hygiene).
- āReaders Theater: Using innovative pedagogy to promote interprofessional collaborationā, workshop presented by Karen Pardue, with play readings by Leah Coplon, Christopher Rizzo, Jane Walsh, Kathryn Loukas, and Dawne-Marie Dunbar.
- āFirst year studentsā perceptions of interprofessional learning and collaborative workingā, a research paper presented by Karen Pardue
- āTranscultural healthcare immersion: Learning about collaborative practice in global primary care settingsā, a workshop authored by Jennifer Morton, Shelley Cohen-Konrad and Trisha Mason; presented by Shelley Cohen-Konrad and Trisha Mason (WCHP Service Learning Coordinator).
- āTransdisciplinary playgroupā, a poster authored by Eileen Ricci (Physical Therapy) and Kathryn Loukas ā presented by Kathryn Loukas.
- āBuilding a sustainable academic community partnership: Focus on fall preventionā, a poster authored by Nancy MacRae (Occupational Therapy) and Betsey Gray (Social Work) ā presented by Nancy MacRae.
