Assistant Clinical Professor, Interim Group Practice Leader
College of Dental Medicine

Dr. Nikki Trone McCabe grew up in Southern California (a proud UCLA alum) and began her career in the dental field in San Francisco, working as a dental and surgical assistant in both general and periodontal practices. Dr. Trone earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She then completed an AEGD residency through Tufts in Maine.  Dr. Trone dedicated the first four years of her career to community health, providing care for underserved populations across Maine, and served as an attending doctor for the residency program where she trained.

In 2025, Dr. Trone came to UNE as clinical faculty and still remains in private practice part time. Dr. Trone is currently the assistant Group Practice Leader for one of the four College of Dental Medicine group practices and is extremely proud to be an active mentor the next generation of dental professionals. She also serves as the current Vice President of the Greater Portland Dental Society. Outside of work, she and her husband Mike enjoy exploring all that Maine has to offer with their daughter, Annie, and their dog, Harriet.
